The most sustainable hotel in the Netherlands

Described as “the most sustainable hotel in the Netherlands,” Hotel Nieuw Leven is located on the island of Texel, offering a welcoming, cozy atmosphere in a beautiful natural setting. From its architecture to its energy systems, every aspect of the hotel was designed with sustainability at its core — including the showers.

The team set out to create a completely off-grid accommodation, where comfort and consciousness could coexist. The Hydraloop Upfall Shower was the final piece of that vision — combining water efficiency with the feel of a full wellness experience.

The first 18 Upfall Showers were installed in March 2018, followed by an additional 12 in January 2021, bringing the total to 30 units — one in every room of the hotel, with the sole exception of a single shower in the Wellness Garden, which is next in line for upgrade.

Although they can’t quantify their savings due to the hotel being newly built with no conventional shower comparison, the decision to go fully with the Hydraloop Upfall Shower was never in question. It matched their mission — not only to reduce water and energy use, but to inspire guests to think differently about sustainability.

Hotel Nieuw Leven isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a living example of how modern luxury and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. And the Hydraloop Upfall Shower plays a central role in delivering that message, one relaxing, circular shower at a time.
